DJ V-Dub began deejaying back in 1984 as a hobby. After four years had gone by, he started to take deejaying to more of a serious level and realized that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. V-Dub loved to spin House music at the time, which was Chicago’s mainstream music genre. Later in 1990, Hip Hop was getting to be more popular, and V-Dub started to play more Hip Hop music throughout his college years. After graduation, he was spinning at clubs where he was eventually approached by Chicago radio station programming executives to produce his own mixshow. In 2001, The Mixtape Hour, the first Chicago mixshow with a mixtape vibe, emerged, and it was dedicated to bringing out new artists from freestyles and new singles. Listen to The Mixtape Hour on 107.5 WGCI on Friday and Saturday nights at 8p.m., and stay tuned for his upcoming mixtape, The Midwest Mixtape Bully!
