Blink is an emerging artist who brings a fresh and distinguishing sound to Chicago’s hip-hop scene. This 21 year old rapper is a proud native of Lagos, Nigeria, and it is Nigeria whom he credits his style and sound. Blink’s music is influenced by musicians of different genres and ethnicities. Growing up he listened to everything from afro beat, disco, rock, blues, jazz etc. but it was at the age of 6 when he was introduced to hip-hop and he has been a fan of the culture and music ever since. His biggest influences include Jay-Z, Eminem, Fela Kuti and Michael Jackson. In 2006 Blink moved to the US to pursue his education at the University of Illinois but he never lost his passion for his music. His debut album that was released this past April, The World is Small consists of 16 original songs each giving a combination of his versatile flow, melodic vocals and passionate lyrics. It was produced by the production team Baron Boys who have produced for artists such as Drake, Young Chris, Nipsey Hustle, Bow Wow and Chicago native The Boy Illinois. The album touches on Blink’s life experiences including music, culture, race, religion, education, sex, and nationality. A lot of his music exhibits heavy and assertive beats that he effortlessly flows to with his distinct voice.
