Lara Phillips: Founder, Marketing, Design & Event Planning

Lara graduated from Ohio University with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. Since then she has expanded her career into the music industry focusing on web design, search engine optimization, online marketing, social media and event planning. She has worked with/interviewed several notable hip hop artists including:  Jeremih, Twista, Jim Jones, Lee England Jr., Hurricane Chris, The GS Boyz, Da Internz, Will Taylor (from Day 26), Nikki Lynette, YP, Skooda Chose, Young Dirty Bastard, Miller Street Studios, and many more.

Seth graduated from Western Illinois University in 2004 with a B.A. in Instructional Technology with a minor in business.  Upon completing his MBA in marketing he has expanded his career into a prosperous photography business. Some of his clients/projects include: Chicago Hip Hop Exposure, Julie Dexter, Talib Kweli Napoleon Suarez, Lee England Jr., HustleWard Inc., and Mathien. Read more about Seth.

John Bassmaji: Marketing Director

John B. is currently the assistant manager at Miller Street Studios in hopes of one day managing his own musical laboratory. John B. has built a reputation on bringing the essential pieces of the puzzle together as far as producing projects, events, and collaborations. In the past year, John’s networking has helped Miller Street Studios to solidify affiliate partnerships with Columbia College Chicago’s Internship Department, Lara Phillips (Lpdeezign, Killa Beatz, Chicago Hip Hop Connects, Gowhere Hip Hop), Matt Biondo (Down To Earth Entertainment), Josh Gort (Craving Creative Life), Gaggie (Producer, Ludacris’ Battle of The Sexes), and more. His motto to success has been, “What can he do for you and what can you do for him?”


Chris Wallace

Chris Wallace: Marketing Intern   

Chris graduated from Indiana University in 2009 with a BA in Sport Marketing & Management as well as a Minor in Business.  He contributed to a project called Hip-Hop’s Forum as a writer and promoter.  After graduation, Chris worked in sales/marketing and continued to learn the industry, make connections, and help promote up-and-coming artists.  With CHHC, Chris will contribute in many formats including marketing, promotions, website/blogging, and covering events/shows.  This will only add to his ambition to work in the live entertainment and music industries.


Kim Shine

Kim Shine: Blog Contributor/Correspondent

Kim Shine graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in Broadcasting and Public Relations from Grand Valley State University. She is a published journalist and has written for the Northwest Indiana Times and the Grand Valley Lanthorn. As a publicist, she has helped promote up-and-coming Chicago artists and music makers. Her efforts have secured artists placements on television, radio, print and online. The WGN Morning News, Radio DePaul and UIC Radio, Red Eye Chicago, Music Is Life Magazine, and “On That Noise” blog are a few of her credits. Introduced to music through piano and dance as child, Kim is also an aspiring songwriter. She is currently working in public relations and is excited to join, and help build, the Chicago Hip Hop Connects team.


Daniel Dantzler

Daniel Dantzler: Blog Contributor

Daniel Dantzler is a Senior at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in Music Business Management. As the current President of Columbia’s Urban Music Association (C.U.M.A.) and Project Coordinator of Columbia’s student run record label, AEMMP Records, Daniel is setting himself up for a bright future. He puts much of his focus is on managing F.A. The Squad, a Hip Hop group from Chicago. Daniel hopes that in joining the Chicago Hip Hop Connects team he will not only further his development in the music industry but also of the Chicago music industry as a whole.
